Today, I’m sharing a personal update that marks a significant milestone in my journey.
Many of you may not know this but some time ago I legally changed my name to Aria Pilar. The name Aria resonates with me—it’s elegant, strong, and beautiful, much like the qualities I strive to embody. Pilar, a family name, symbolizes a pillar of strength and support, which is incredibly meaningful to me.

This decision comes from a place of personal growth and self-discovery. I believe that embracing my true name is a powerful step towards honoring my creative soul and heritage.
I’m thrilled about this new chapter and can’t wait to share it with all of you.
In my work with individuals facing hair loss, I’ve witnessed the transformative impact of rebuilding confidence and embracing one's true self. It’s a beautiful reminder that we have the power to choose who we want to be in this world, and that words have the power to uplift and inspire.
Names carry immense power and significance.
That being said, I never really loved the name Karen. It was too proper and just didn’t feel like me. I’m sure people may think, “It’s just a name; what does it matter?”
It’s unfortunate that society, despite all the progress and movement towards a more accepting and positive culture, considers anyone’s name a joke or ties it to such negative connotations. As a society, we can do better than that.

The main reason holding me back from changing my name (until now) was that I didn’t want to disappoint my mom. I didn’t want to be judged or laughed at. I was too worried about what people would think and I was raised to do as I was told.

But I always wanted something unique, something that represented me.
In my case, I want to do what feels right for me and not worry about what others think. At the end of the day, my hope is that each person lives their best life, has fun, and is uniquely themselves without worrying about what others may think.
Our names play an essential role in defining who we are and what we represent. They tell our stories and reflect our values.
Embracing my true name is a significant step in my journey of self-discovery and growth. It’s about claiming the freedom to choose a name that aligns with who I am, breaking free from a name I did not choose— a name tied to values and stereotypes I don’t believe in.
Growing up, many of us were taught to conform, to fit in, to be less colorful.
Moxi Loxi is about breaking free from those constraints. It’s about being bold, confident, and unapologetically who you are or who you choose to be. Whether it’s rocking a pink wig, going blonde, or embracing your natural brunette locks, you have the right to choose how you show up in the world.
I’ve always been a free spirit, dancing to the beat of my own drum. I’m grateful for the love and platform I have to inspire and care for others. Like many of you, I sometimes hold back, fearing judgment, but I’ve learned that life is too short to worry about what others think. It’s time to be bold, brave, confident and be unapologetically myself.

For those who don’t know, my amazing 13-year-old son, Jagger, is my biggest inspiration. He’s the heart and soul behind everything I do. I want to show him the importance of living with purpose, loving himself, and making a positive impact in the world. He’s watched me build Moxi Loxi, down to the name.
We have fun, don’t take ourselves too seriously and focus on the things that in our eyes, truly matter - how you treat yourself, others and the world around you. To live with character, integrity, be humble, strong and kind. I hope to inspire him to seize the day, be bold, proud of who he is and be fearless in his pursuits.
Showing the world to Jagger
At Moxi Loxi, our mission is to create an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and accepted. We do more than provide hair loss solutions—we change lives.
The name I have chosen for myself represents so much of what I want to bring to Moxi Loxi - elegance, strength, and unwavering support. These values are at the heart of Moxi Loxi and guide everything we do.
I want to lead by example and show that you can fully embrace who you are and be loved for it.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping me create a community where we can all be our true, unique selves.
As one great friend taught me, be the star of your own show. People are more worried about their zit, not your zit!
Anyone who knows me well, will tell you; I’ve always been a rebel and free spirit.
With the changing times, pronouns, and a culture more open to embracing who we are or who we choose to be, I realized it’s time to officially honor my legal name, Aria Pilar—which appropriately, represents strength and bravery. So here I am, being brave!
Be who you are
Thank you for embracing Aria Pilar and I’m hoping you squeeze every bit of joy out of today.
Be brave, be bold, be moxi.
With love and gratitude,
ARIA PILAR
