Washing your human hair wig or hair replacement system (HRS) shouldn’t be a daunting task. With the right techniques, you can keep your hair system looking fabulous every day. Follow these simple steps to properly wash your human hair wig or HRS.

  • Gentle shampoo, such as Pure Shampoo

  • Conditioner

  • Shine spray, usch as Luster Mist

  • Wide-tooth comb, such as the Eco Comb

  • Towel

  • Styling stand

  • Cold or lukewarm water

  • T-pins (for HRS)

Step 2: Pre-Wash Setup

Fill a sink or basin with cold to lukewarm water and add a small amount of Moxi Loxi Pure Shampoo.

Step 3: Submerge

Gently submerge the wig in the water, avoiding twisting or wringing to prevent fiber damage. Be extra gentle with the lace front.

Step 4: Shampoo

Use your fingers to gently distribute the shampoo, being cautious not to tangle the hair. For the cap/base, lightly press the shampoo through without scrubbing.

Step 5: Rinse

Rinse the wig in cold or lukewarm water until the shampoo is completely removed.

Step 6: Condition

Apply a generous amount of conditioner, focusing on the mid-shaft to ends. Avoid the wig cap/base. Let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing.

Step 7: Rinse Again

Thoroughly rinse the wig in cold or lukewarm water.

Step 8: Towel Dry

Gently pat the wig dry with a towel. Do not wring or twist.

Step 9: Detangle

Gently comb with a wide-tooth comb or brush with a detangling brush. Place the wig on a styling head (on a stand), part the hair as desired, and secure with T-pins if needed. Make sure the lace, hair, and cap are not tucked under.

Step 10: Air Dry

Place the wig on a styling stand and allow it to air dry completely or approximately 70% depending on the desired style. For curly textures, scrunch and use recommended products.

Step 11: Final Styling

Once dry, spray in Luster Mist and style your wig as you wish using a wide-tooth comb for best results.
